A Georgia prosecutor hit back at Lindsey Graham for challenging a subpoena to testify before a special grand jury.

The Fulton County District Attorney said in a Thursday court filing that Graham's challenge is built on the shifting sands of incorrect legal arguments, inapplicable legal principles, and citations to caselaw that fail to support any legal point being made.

Graham asked the Georgia federal district court to quickly hear his challenge to the subpoena.

His legal team argued in a court filing that the subpoena would allow other county officials in other parts of the country to impose the same burdens on federal officials.

The Georgia special grand jury is looking into Trump's attempts to influence state officials and overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.

A number of Trump associates and allies have been subpoenaed.

Graham's communications with state elections officials were the subject of a subpoena.

According to Thursday's filing, Graham's activities appeared to be connected to former President Trump's efforts to influence Georgia election officials to find 11,780 votes.

Graham should consider Thomas Jefferson's maxim that "legislators should not be above the law they create but should generally be bound by it as are ordinary persons."

The first report on the new filing was from a news organization.
