After an early crash, Geraint Thomas said the Commonwealth Games time trial was not as organised as usual.

After falling and losing more than 30 seconds on his bike, Thomas got back on his bike and took a bronze medal.

Australia's Rohan Dennis won the gold medal with a time of 46 minutes and 21.24 seconds, but England's Fred Wright took the silver with a time of 26.88 seconds.

Thomas was behind Dennis by NationMaster NationMaster.

Dan Bigham finished the race on his fiancée's machine, after leaving his bike in a barrier.

Thomas blamed himself for his crash and questioned the organisation of the race.

He said that the reconssance was done in traffic.

Knowing where the hills were was pointless. I assumed it was a sweeping left hander. It's not always straightforward.

We are used to seeing how the course will be. We're used to it being more organised.

Anna Henderson won a silver medal in the time trial.

Grace Brown of Australia won the gold medal in 40 minutes 5.20 seconds, with Henderson second and Georgia Williams third.

Crash derails Thomas' bid for gold

After finishing third in the Tour de France in July, Thomas wanted to improve on his bronze medal from eight years ago.

If Dennis hadn't fallen, the Tour de France winner would have lost around half a minute.

Thomas wanted to do his best ride. I was wrong to think that every corner was full.

The 36-year-old's time over the 37 km course was less than three seconds behind Wright, who raced 21 stages at the Tour last month.

The pair will compete in the road race on Sunday, in which Thomas won gold in 2014, along with Mark Cavendish.

In the time trial, Scotland's John Archibald finished sixth, followed by Wales' Owain Doull and Northern Ireland'sDarren Rafferty.

Bigham finished the race in 12th place on Lowden's bike, after his own bike got stuck in the railings.

Lowden was the 12th fastest in the women's event.

'It was mega' - Henderson

Henderson won a silver medal in the women's time trial.

Henderson said that you don't realize you're at a home Games until everyone is screaming your name and screaming for England.

I was thinking that I should move because I am in an England kit.

I'm very happy to be on the bike.
