More next-gen consoles are in the hands of players who have had difficulty getting them. I was ecstatic when I got my hands on a retail PS5 and have been living in a two-station house. I was sad that my PS4 had to sit and wait for a new one.

I upgraded the internal drive of my PS4 during the PS5 dry season because it had served me well for a long time. Is it possible to follow the action of the people and sell it? I don't know how to bring it such honor. I knew there were many ways it could bring glory to my house and that it had great value to me. Here is how you can make the most of yours as well.

Place it somewhere else.

If you have other TVs or monitors in the house, moving your PS4 will be the first benefit I will get into. My gaming rig is located in my office. I know a lot of people who have consoles in their bedrooms so it's easier to play games before you fall asleep. To be fair, screens and sleep are not good together. The kids room may not have the power of a next-gen console. It could be used as a portable console for family trips. You will get a lot out of it wherever you take it.

PS Plus benefits, enjoy them.

Those benefits extend to your PS account if you have a subscription to PS Plus. Even if your PS4 isn't your primary console, it can download and stream content and connect to the same cloud saves you use on your primary PS5. Do you want to play Spider-Man in your home? It's great! It can be done elsewhere on your PS4.

You can make it a PS5.

Sony added a feature to the PS4 to allow it to stream directly from the PS5 and give you a second console to play games on. You can pair the two consoles using the remote play options. It isn't perfect but I haven't had much of an issue. It won't have the full capabilities of the PS5 dual sense controller since you'll be using a Sony dual shock 4 controller I played the flute on the PS5 edition of Ghost of Tsushima.

You can make a media streaming box.

You can turn your PS4 into a strong entertainment center by using your media and streaming apps.

If you have a local Plex media server, you can use the PS4's media app to access all of the content on your local network. I ripped most of my collection to a digital library in my office because I am that level of nerd. It is possible to watch all of that and other local videos on my PS4.

Video is not the only thing. The PS4 is well equipped to handle music and podcasts as well, including those soundtracks that came with your special-edition game purchases that you can't really transfer or play anywhere else, because where you really want it is in your car or on a CD.

I'm not sure what to say.

There is still physical media on the table. Plug and play is possible if you have music, movies, or photos on an external drive. The PS4 doesn't support the default file system for Windows PCs, so if you want to copy your music and movies to it, you'll have to use exFAT or FAT. If you like to listen to all of the additional audio tracks and bonus disc content, it's still one of the best players on the market.
