NASA says it is on track for the maiden launch of its next- generation lunar rocket and spaceship in August.

The final preparations for the space agency's rocket and spaceship were going well according to officials. The Space Launch System will be rolled out to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on August 11 for a liftoff on August 29th.

The SLS rocket is capable of creating around 8.8 million pounds of thrust at launch, more than the space shuttle and more than the Saturn V rocket that powered the Apollo lunar missions.

Tens of thousands of people are expected to line the Space Coast to view the launch of NASA's most powerful rocket ever, according to Florida news outlets. The local hotelier said that it was the biggest number he had heard in a long time.

The Artemis I mission will include a flyby of the moon and a splashdown in the ocean off the coast of California.

The path for Artemis II will be paved by a successful Artemis I mission. Artemis III will place the first woman and first person of color on the moon.

A permanent moon base, a crewed mission to Mars, and grand plans for a lunar space station are just some of the things NASA plans to do in the future.
