China is conducting military exercises in and around one of the world's busiest shipping lanes after Pelosi's controversial Taiwan visit

After Nancy Pelosi's visit to the island, Taiwan advised ships to avoid areas where China is conducting military exercises.

According to various notices from the island's maritime and port bureau, ships have been asked to use alternative routes to enter and exit Taiwan's ports.

The Taiwanese authority called on ships to avoid certain areas during the military exercise. The exercises will take place from Thursday to Sunday.

The Taiwan Strait is one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. The strait is used by ships from North Asian factories to get to Western markets. The Taiwan Strait is home to half of the world's container fleet.

One of the busiest straits in the world is the Taiwan Strait. Maersk CEO Soren Skou said in a Wednesday earnings call that it would have a dramatic impact on shipping capacity if it were to close.

"But I also have to say that there seems to be no suggestion that that is where we are going," said Skou, adding the container shipping giant has "no particular insights" on the military exercises.

China's military exercises have had an affect on other areas. Aviation has also been affected.

China has warned airlines not to fly in the airspace around Taiwan because of six danger zones. The designated airspace zones around Taiwan are causing longer flying time for some flights.
