We get it, math is hard.

Football fans are in a state of limbo. The preseason hasn't even started yet. We are watching clips from training camp but don't know how the teams are doing. Hot takes and predictions run rampant at this time of year. The media takes out-of-context clips from training camp and practice and tries to make a bold claim that will get a lot of attention on social media.

If you get a few people defending you in the comments, your bogus take turns into a bold statement rather than an obvious claim or a near impossible outcome. They blew that out of the water because their predictions are impossible. I'll explain here.

I will lay out what they project for each team's record. The predictions are from Bleacher Report.

Do you know what's going on here? It is not with any of the teams. As a whole, it's with the results. Since 2004, there has always been at least one team in the NFL with less than four wins. The Falcons, Bears, Bears, and Texans are not going to win four games this year. The point is not that. It is only a small part of what is going on.

We get 281 wins when we add up all the predictions. We get 263 when we add up all the teams loss totals. Okay! We are going to see more victories this year. That is great. Wait a second. It is impossible.

The league's record will be.500. Every win has to be a loss for it to be.500. The equilibrium is achieved once again if there is a tie. There has never been a season where the number of wins was greater or less than the number of losses. It would be the world's first broken math. I don't know what the Vegas odds are. It's probably very low.

If I am going to make predictions, I may as well try to predict something that can actually happen because I have done win-loss projections in the past.

It is easy to get excited about a team after a good season. Several teams are going to reach new heights, but for every team that does, there will be a new team that fails to meet expectations. Every team expected to be good, every team expected to be bad, and every team projected to be mediocre will all have at least 10 wins next year. Those claims are not bold. It seems like a shallow attempt to keep the fans happy, because the team won't fail. The news is good! Some of them are going to. This is the real world. The Bleacher Report needs to do better.
