The fans aren't going to see Batgirl.
The sequel to the Oscar-winning smash hit starring Joaquin Phoenix has been in the works for some time and will be released on October 4, 2024, five years after the original. The title of the film, at least according to co-writer and director ToddPhillips' script, is "cootie Deux", which roughly means "shared madness." When multiple people share the same delusion, it is referred to as it. If a failed comedian murders someone on TV and becomes a folk hero.
Phoenix is expected to return to the role that earned him an Oscar and, rumor has it, he might be joined by Lada Gaga, who would be asked to bring to life some of the film's musical numbers. It is rumored that the movie is a musical, so don't expect to see Robert Pattinson or anything like that. Films are expected to start this year.
The timing of the news for the studio can't be ignored. It came a day after it put the brakes on a near completed DC movie. There are many reasons for that, but one of them is a new Warner Bros. strategy for DC films. That wasn't the case with the clown. It was a dark and disturbing character piece which was used to try something new for the genre. This new DC strategy wouldn't allow for it. Unless, of course, it was a musical based on the movie "The Dark Knight".
