The Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the former adviser to Donald Trump for using an unofficial email account while in the White House.

At least one non- official email account was used by Navarro to send and receive emails, according to the lawsuit. After refusing to cooperate with a congressional investigation into the attack on the Capitol, he was indicted on criminal charges.

According to the civil cases, Navarro failed to turn over presidential records because he used an unofficial email account.

The Justice Department wants a judge to authorize the recovery of any presidential records in the possession, custody, and/or control of Mr. Navarro. The damages are also sought.

The suit states that Mr. Navarro is guilty of wrongful retention of Presidential records that are the property of the United States.

A lawyer for the criminal case didn't reply to a message asking about the civil case.
