Geno Auriemma made a statement.

We're all very sad for the girl. She's worked hard to get stronger and healthier, and this is a big blow. It's really unfortunate that this has happened to her because she's a better person and teammate than she is. We'll miss her on the court, but she's going to do everything she can to help her teammates. Through her healing process, our program will support her.

In an interview with Bleacher Report, Bueckers said she was aiming for a national championship in 2022-23.

When asked what would make a successful season, Bueckers said the national championship. I think you will get the same answer from me. The only thing left to do is win the national championship and get to the Final Four. That's the aim.

Bueckers burst onto the college basketball scene as a freshman out of high school. In 29 games, she averaged 20.0 points, 4.9 rebound, 5.7 assists and 2.3 steals, while shooting 52.4 percent from the floor and 46.4 percent from deep.

She was a part of the team that lost to Arizona in the Final Four of the NCAA tournament.

After her freshman season, Bueckers earned a number of honors, including the Wooden Award and the AP Player of the year.

After the last two games of the regular season, Bueckers played in the Big East tournament and the NCAA tournament. She was part of the team that lost to South Carolina in the title game.

As a sophomore, Bueckers shot 54.4% from the floor and 35.3% from beyond the line.

Her junior season will be put on hold because she was expected to have an even more impressive campaign.

More pressure will be put on incoming freshmen Ayanna Patterson and Isuneh Brady, the No. 4 and No. 5 prospects, because the Huskies will have to turn to veterans this coming season.
