Marc Cucurella: Chelsea on verge of deal for Brighton full-back

Cucurella is a Spain international full-back who plays forBrighton.

After receiving interest from Manchester City, the defender handed in a transfer request, but they didn't pursue a move and the fee was too high.

Seagulls said in a statement that no agreement has been reached with any club.

Cucurella joined the Seagulls from Getafe for a single season.

His signing would make him the third summer signing for the club.

The Blues have an agreement with Villa for a fee of 20 million dollars.

Last month, the Seagulls rejected a £30m bid from City for Cucurella, and saw £50m as the benchmark, which was the same amount of money that was paid for Ben White in the summer of last year.

According to sources at the club, it would take another exceptional offer to consider a sale as they saw Cucurella as a better player.

He would become the second big-money departure from the Amex this summer if he is sold.

Cucurella played for the under-23 side that won a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
