Nancy Pelosi ended her visit to Taiwan on Wednesday, giving a message of solidarity with the island republic and pushing back against China's threats against her.

Pelosi said she didn't know whether the president of China was ratting his saber because of his own political situation.

We salute the successes of Taiwan, we work together for the security of Taiwan, and we learn a lot from the democracy in Taiwan.

China, which claims the island as part of its territory, threatened to retaliate against Pelosi if she went to Taiwan. After Pelosi arrived in Taiwan, China announced it would conduct missile tests and send aircraft into the air defense zone.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said that the visit interfered with China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Although she is the highest-ranking elected U.S. official to visit Taiwan in 25 years, other members of Congress have visited the country in the past. A group of senators visited the island in April.

They made a big deal about me being the speaker. I'm not sure if that was a reason or an excuse. They didn't say anything when the men arrived.

She said that whatever China was going to do they would do in their own good time.

She said that it's another thing to do it.

The speaker, who has been a critic of China for a long time, said upon her arrival that the trip would focus on our support for our partner and on promoting our shared interests. She repeated that message before leaving the island.

She said that the delegation came here to give an unambiguous message.
