According to the Wall Street Journal, the US is now sending more gas to Europe by boat than Russia is, because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The precedent of delivering huge amounts of gas to Europe has been turned on its head in the last few months.
Liquefied natural gas from the US was the main supplier to Europe in July. The top source of gas to the continent was from Norway, while other sources include North African lines, as well as domestically produced gas.
As Moscow tightens natural gas flows, European wholesale gas prices have tripled. Natural gas deliveries to Germany were reduced by 20% due to technical issues.
The European Commission said that a few countries have been completely cut off. Natural gas deliveries to Latvia have been stopped.
The struggle to wean off other energy supplies from the country has led to the use of more Russian diesel. The data shows that imports of Russian diesel are up.
The EU is facing an energy crisis and the US has stepped in as an emergency supplier.
