The outlet reported that one of the affected stores was outside of the parliament building.

An unknown source broadcast the message on the 7-Eleven store displays, according to a spokesman for the convenience store chain. The store is operating normally and the manufacturer has been requested to fix it.

The President Chain Store group did not respond to Insider's request for comment.

A spokesman for Taiwan's Presidential Palace said on Wednesday that the palace's website was hit by an overseas DDOS attack with 200 times the usual cyberattack traffic.

Normal operations have resumed after being taken away by the Presidential Palace.

A spokesman for Taiwan's ruling party said in a statement that the cyberattacks on the government and 7-Eleven stores were raising the situation in the Taiwan Strait.

The statement said the international community shouldn't accept Beijing's counter-measures because they were unfair.
