Amadou Onana: West Ham agree £33.5m deal for Lille and Belgium midfielder

The Hammers have agreed a fee of 40 million euros with add-ons for Onana.

The Hammers are looking to add to their squad.

Personal terms are still to be agreed for the player as the deal for Onana is not complete.

The Hammers are interested in signing Maxwel Cornet, a 25-year-old who scored nine goals in 26 games last season.

In June, Onana made his seniorBelgium debut in a 4-1 Nations League defeat to the Netherlands.

Hoffenheim's academy was where the 6ft 5in (1.98m) prospect spent three seasons.

After signing for Hamburg before the 2020-21 season, Onana quickly became a first-team regular.

After joining Lille in August of 2021, Onana made 31 appearances in the French top flight and featured in all of the club's games in the European competition.

Alphonse Areola and Flynn Downes are the fifth and sixth new arrivals of the close season, and Onana is expected to join them.
