Taiwan is one of the freest societies in the world.

Pelosi met with Taiwanese leader Tsai Ing-wen on Wednesday morning at the latter's presidential office.

Pelosi said that the delegation came to Taiwan to make clear that they wouldn't abandon their commitment to Taiwan.

She said that she was proud of the fact that Tsai was a woman president of one of the freest societies in the world.

America's determination to preserve democracy in Taiwan and across the globe was emphasized by Pelosi.

Pelosi was thanked by the president for her support of Taiwan. The Order of Propitious Clouds with Special Grand Cordon was presented to Pelosi by her.

Tensions between the US and China increased after Pelosi arrived in Taiwan. She is the highest-ranking lawmaker to visit Taiwan in 25 years, despite threats from China.

The Taiwan Affairs Office of the Chinese Communist Party was angry with Pelosi.

It is bound to be unified. The Taiwan Affairs Office wrote in a statement on Tuesday night that this will not be diverted by the will of some anti-China forces on the US side.

The office said that attempts by Taiwan to be independent of China would be destroyed.
