Kim Kardashian's new SKIMS swim gloves are so popular that there's a wait list to buy them

The first collection of her swimwear line included an array of one-piece, two-piece, and cover-ups.

The only item that customers have to apply to be on the wait list for is the $48 swim gloves that come in seven different colors.

The gloves are meant to elevate a swimwear look. The description says they are designed in a stretchy fabric.

The representatives for SKIMS did not respond to the request for comment. In an interview with Vogue, she said she wanted to blur the lines between swimwear and regular clothes.

She said that "the concept of wearing swim in the water or at the beach is a given, but I would constantly think about what I'm wearing beyond that while lounging by the pool, boating with kids, doing water sports, or going out to dinner on vacation?"

The idea has always been to bridge the gap between in and out of water and create a complete wardrobe of options.

There are other parts of the collection that could double as wardrobe items. The new SKIMS Swim line includes a swim tube skirt and swim tank dress in seven different colors.

The gloves have sparked some debate online as to their practicality

Some consumers were going to have the gnarliest tan lines.

Estelle Puleston said that gloves may be having a resurgence.

In January, she shared photographs of herself wearing a black long-sleeved swim shirt, bikini bottoms, and what appeared to be motorcycle gloves, and she got over 7 million likes.

She shared images from her Sports Illustrated photo shoot, where she was pictured wearing latex gloves with a bikini, and her post got over five million likes.
