Arizona officials who planned to help overturn election in Trump's favor worried activating group of fake electors 'could appear treasonous': report

The New York Times reported that two Arizona GOP officials worried that their actions could be seen as traitorous.

After a vote count determined that Joe Biden had won the presidential election, the officials were going to install an alternate set of electors to vote for Donald Trump. In Georgia, some of the would-be electors could be charged with election interference, conspiracy, and racketeering.

According to emails published by The New York Times, the chair of the Arizona Republican Party and a state senator were concerned about the plan that Trump's legal team was circulating.

If there is no pending court proceeding that will lead to the electors being ratified as the legitimate ones, it could seem treasonous for the AZ electors to vote on Monday.

The word was bold.

The email was sent to a group of people.

Ward signed a document that claimed to be a "certificate of the votes of the 2020 electors from Arizona" and that Trump won the state's 11 electoral College votes.

The document was not signed by the person.
