Industry watchers noticed that no mention of Batgirl was made at Comic-Con 2022. Despite being in the final stages of post-production, Warner Bros. and DC Films have decided not to release the movie on any platforms.

The 1994 Fantastic Four effort and the Bill Cosby 77 project are both on the list of American Unreleased Films on the internet. The film will join them because of new Warner Bros. head Michael De Luca and new Discovery executive David Zaslav. Batgirl was directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah and has a starring role in it.

According to the Post, Warner Bros. thought the movie would be irredeemable after poor reception from test audiences. The test audiences didn't see Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The DCEU and the DC Films multiverse are two of the new strategies laid out by the president of DC Films. The plan was to release up to four movies in theaters every year, with another one or two being exclusive to the premium cable channel. The planned release schedule was upended by the COVID-19pandemic.

DC films, including a director's cut of Justice League, were one of the biggest promises made by the company. According to Rolling Stone, the hype for "Snyder cut" was mostly led by fake accounts. That may make it more difficult to save Batgirl.
