A trio of trades took place on Tuesday, including the acquisition of Noah Syndergaard, David Robertson and Brandon Marsh.
The Los Angeles Angels traded minor league outfielders Mickey Moniak and Jadielnchez to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard.
After agreeing to a $21 million, one-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers in November, the 29-year-old New York Mets pitcher went 5-5 with a 3.83 earned run average in 15 starts.
"I'm excited to have the chance to play for a team that is in the playoffs, that's what I'm looking forward to," Syndergaard said in the Angels' locker room. The race is going to be exciting. I won't be able to ignore the New York Mets media.
He will make his first start for the Phils against the Nationals.
Moniak got a fresh start with a new organization after he was selected by Philadelphia with the top pick in the amateur draft. Moniak has a career batting average of.129.
Philadelphia traded minor league pitcher Ben Brown to the Chicago Cubs for Robertson, one of the top relief pitchers on the market. The Angels gave up Marsh in exchange for O' Hoppe.
Philadelphia is in the running for a wild card. Since 2011, it hasn't made the playoffs.
Robertson had an elbow injury that required surgery in the middle of his seven appearances for the Phils. He didn't make it back to the majors until he was a pitcher.
In 36 appearances this year, Robertson has 14 saves and a 2.23 earned run average. The right-handed pitcher signed a one-year contract with the Cubs.

Robertson was a member of the New York Yankees when they won the World Series in 2009. In 709 appearances, he has 151 saves and a 2.90 earned run rate.
Brown was drafted by the Philadelphia in the 33rd round. In 16 appearances with High-A Jersey Shore this year, the right-handed pitcher was 3-6 with a 3.08 earned run.
Marsh is a lefty-hitting, righty- throwing 24 year old. He was one of the top prospects in Los Angeles before he made his major league debut. He has a.235 batting average with 10 homers, 14 stolen bases, and a.653 OPS.
