The Miami Dolphins have been stripped of two draft picks and their billionaire owner Stephen Ross has been suspended for six months by the National Football League after an investigation found the team had engaged in tampering with other teams.
The league said that the Dolphins will lose a first-round pick and a third-round pick in the next two drafts.
The league said that Ross won't be allowed to be present at the Dolphins' facility or represent the team at any official event until October 17th.
He won't be allowed to attend any meetings of the National Football League until March 23,23.
The most important thing is that there will be no distraction for our team and that is why Ross disagrees with the investigation's conclusion and his punishment.
The Dolphins did not have to lose games to improve their draft position.
The Dolphins had improper communication with Brady about him becoming an executive and limited partner in the team. The communications took place when Brady was still playing with the New England Pats, and continued into after the 2021 season while he was under contract with the Bucs. The investigation found that the Dolphins engaged in inappropriate communication with Don Yee, the agent for Sean Payton, about him becoming the Dolphins head coach without asking for permission from the Saints. After the Dolphins asked for permission to speak to Payton, the Saints declined the request.
It is estimated that Ross is worth $8.2 billion.
In February, Brian Flores, the former head coach of the Dolphins, filed a lawsuit against the NFL, the Dolphins and several other teams, accusing Ross of offering him $100,000 for every loss. It was not meant to be a serious offer, according to White. Flores accused Ross of pressuring him to recruit a quarterback. Flores said he was held out as someone who was non compliant and difficult to work with when he refused to violate the league's tampering rules. Flores said in a statement Tuesday that Ross will avoid any meaningful consequence for his transgressions because of the investigation's findings. Fans suffer and football suffers when the integrity of the game is questioned.
