This was announced earlier this year, but Hyatt's newest property in Italy just opened. This Hyatt might be one of the most expensive in the world during peak season.

Now open: 7Pines Sardinia, Italy

Hyatt entered into a franchise agreement to open the 7Pines Sardinia in August of 2022. The first 7Pines property was 7Pines Ibiza.

A private beach and pier with a beach club can be found at the resort. The archipelago of La Maddalena can be seen from it.

It looks like 7Pines Sardinia should be a great property.

Sardinia is located to the northwest of Sicily and to the north of Tunisia. In summer Sardinia, Porto Cervo is one of the biggest scenes on the planet.

Sardinia has been popular with billionaires and Russians for a long time, and the price in Porto Cervo is simply not true. You can get a cocktail for 35EUR or a taxi for 50EUR.

I reviewed two Marriott Luxury Collection properties in Porto Cervo a few years ago and am not making it sound appealing. Check those out if you want to get a sense of what it is like.

7Pines Sardinia rates & points requirements

Rates at 7Pines Sardinia are different during the season. In the coming weeks rates will be over 1,300EUR per night.

Rates are as low as 300EUR per night in October.

A free night redemption in a standard room at 7Pines Sardinia costs between 25,000 and 35,000 points per night. Paying cash at the end of the season is a better deal than in the peak season.

You can redeem points for standard suites and premium suites as well.

  • The standard suites are the Laguna View Suite and Sea View Suite, both of which you could also use a Globalist suite upgrade for
  • The premium suites are the Beach Suite and Rooftop Suite

The Destination by Hyatt branding confuses me

This hotel is leaving me confused because it is hard to gauge the quality of a new hotel. Even though the hotel looks gorgeous, that often doesn't mean reality.

I don't know if this is a true luxury property that competes with some of the best hotels in the area or if it is just a mediocre hotel that is hoping to take advantage of its location to command high rates.

The hotel is branded as aDestination by Hyatt property. I have yet to stay at a Hyatt property, but I was under the impression that they are more upscale than luxury, with the primary focus being on the destination.

I want to know if this is a luxury hotel with strange branding or if it is just an expensive island hotel.

Bottom line

The 7Pines Sardinia is a Hyatt property. With the World of Hyatt program, it is great to see Hyatt's footprint grow. One of the most expensive destinations in the world can be found in Sardinia during the summer months.

I don't know how luxurious this hotel will be. Is this more of an upscale hotel in an expensive area or will it be a true luxury hotel? I think it's the latter, but who knows...

Someone wants to check out the new 7Pines Sardinia.
