The path to a four-year, $160 million deal was a long one. He played the last year of his contract with the Cowboys even though they offered $90 million in guaranteed money. Stephen Jones said that one of the biggest challenges in the negotiations was length. The shorter length was followed by us. Matthew Stafford has signed a large extension to stay with his club.
It's just the life you live when you have a franchise quarterback, according to Jones. Troy and I lived it together. Tony and I lived it together.
