The father of the Capitol rioter turned him into the FBI after his son broke up the family.

Guy Reffitt was found guilty of possession of a semi-automatic weapon on Capitol grounds and threatening his own children to prevent them from reporting him to law enforcement.

Reffitt was sentenced to 87 months in prison and was ordered to pay $2,000 in fines. The sentence is the longest so far.

According to court documents seen by Insider, Reffitt, who was a member of the Three Percenters militia group, led a group of protesters up a stairway outside the Capitol and told them he was going to drag Pelosi out of the building.

Reffitt told his two children that they would betraitors if they turned him in after the Capitol riot.

He warned them that traitors would get shot if they turned him in.

Jackson tipped off the FBI about Guy's radicalized rhetoric in December 2020.

Jackson told ABC News that he discovered his father was at the Capitol riot when he posted pictures of it on the family group chat. The younger Reffitt told the FBI that his father was at the Capitol. The elder Reffitt was taken into custody.

Jackson told Vice News earlier this year that he was paranoid because of his father's involvement in protests.

He testified at Reffitt's trial that Jackson's decision to turn in his father caused a huge rift in their family.

It is hard. The younger Reffitt said that he moved out of the house after his family found out he was cooperating with the FBI.

He testified that his contact with his family had been limited.

Jackson said that he can't do much about tearing the family apart.

Reffitt's family has stood by him. His daughters told reporters after his sentencing that they didn't think it was fair for him to get such a long prison term.

When someone is able to get elected again, and my dad is marked as this horrible person, what is the point of prosecuting him? It doesn't seem right to me.

If my father is in prison for this long, Trump should be in prison for life.
