Delta broke a passenger's $30,000 power wheelchair on a trip to Disney and then sent it on the wrong plane back to Atlanta.

On July 16th, Jessica Dalonzo flew from New York to Florida with her parents to celebrate her graduation from Queens College with a degree in psychology.

She told Insider that her chair broke when she got out of the plane.

Her parents were able to fix the broken joystick and footplate because they had brought tools and screws with them.

She had a worse experience on the way back.

The chair was not put on the flight back to New York.

Dalonzo's wheelchair was put on a flight to Los Angeles after over an hour of searching.

Dalonzo was able to get her chair back the next day, but she wasn't able to use it due to the damage.

The head rest and one of the arm rests were ripped, the fender on one of the wheels was broken, and the chair was cracking. She said the chair was dirty and dusty and the air cushion, joystick arm, and footplate were broken.

The chair is worth tens of thousands of dollars.

She said that her wheelchair was made for her. Delta is giving me a wheelchair, but I can't use any other one.

She told Insider that Delta had offered to pay for the repairs or buy her a new wheelchair, and that it had refunds for both her and her parents.

While the majority of wheelchairs and scooters enplaned by Delta are not mishandled, we understand the frustration that comes when we fall short.

We apologize for the customer's experience and are working with them to make things better.

Dalonzo had never flown with her power chair before. She had always taken a manual chair, which had been damaged, but not as much as her power chair.

She said she couldn't believe someone would treat a wheelchair like that.

Dalonzo said he's angry. They need to do a better job.
