According to multiple reports, Guy Reffitt was sentenced to 87 months in prison on Monday, making him the longest sentenced to date.
The Justice Department wanted 15 years in prison for Reffitt, who was accused of planning to use a gun and zip ties to take over Congress.
Freidrich, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump, denied a request from the Justice Department to apply a terrorism enhancement to Reffitt's sentencing.
Reffitt told the judge he wanted to make multiple apologies and called himself an "idiot" during the sentencing.
Reffitt was found guilty of five felony counts in March, including transporting a firearm in furtherance of a civil disorder, obstruction of an official proceeding, and entering or attempting to enter a building.
Reffitt is accused of playing a central role in guiding a mob and officers. Reffitt is accused of texting friends about plans to remove Nancy Pelosi from the Capitol.
