The changes came after several notable golf players left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf. The new organization is backed by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund.

Stenson added $375,000 from his team's second-place finish in order to earn $4 million for his win at the golf tournament.

Tony was the winner of the Rocket Mortgage Classic and took home over a million dollars.

The FedEx Cup championship won't start until January due to the PGA Tour moving back to a calendar year schedule. The last season with a wraparound schedule will be in 2022-23.

The changes were explained in a statement by the commissioner.

Fans want more consequences for both the FedEx Cup regular season and the playoffs and to strengthen events that feature top players competing head-to-head. We feel very confident that we have accomplished all of the objectives and created compelling drama for every tournament.

The changes were reported in June after the Travelers Championship.

Despite several high-profile departures from the PGA Tour, most of the top players in the world are still with the organization and are scheduled to compete in the upcoming FedEx Cup playoffs.
