Climate adaptation initiatives that help people, animals, and plants to survive despite rising climate volatility receive only a small amount of investment. They should get a lot of business investment. Early warning systems for extreme weather events, coastal barriers, water desalination and wastewater treatment, vertical farming, improved cooling and insulation systems, 3D printed and modular housing, and many other measures are all proven to be effective and have immediate impact.

These efforts only prevent a worse future rather than addressing the consequences of the damage already done. Carbon offsets have yet to demonstrate a meaningful impact on the atmosphere or remove 1% of global emissions.
