  • The song "Heated" will have a different lyrics from the new album.

  • The same word had to be changed from a Lizzo song.

  • The word was not used in a bad way, according to a representative for Bey.

A song on her new album "Renaissance" will be removed after it was called "ableist" and "offensive" by disability charities.

Fans and activists criticized the use of the word "spaz" in the song "Heated" which has been used as a derogatory word against people with disabilities. The negative use of the word "fight" in African-American Vernacular English leads to confusion about the meaning of the word.

A representative for the singer told Insider that the lyrics will be changed.

The word won't be used in a harmful way.

After receiving backlash for including the same word in the song, Lizzo apologized and re-released the song.

The singer did not see the public backlash to Lizzo.

Hannah Diveney wrote in an opinion piece in the Guardian that "Beyonce's use of ableist language is not excused by her status as a culturally significant singer."

I'm exhausted." People with disabilities need better. She wrote in the article that she didn't want to have the discussion again.

According to Warren Kirwan, the removal of the word matters because it can reinforce negative attitudes towards people with disabilities.

Nine out of 10 people who experienced negative attitudes and behaviors said their experiences had a personal impact on them, according to a study conducted by Scope and Opinium Research.

Kirwan told Insider that he was appalled that one of the world's biggest stars had chosen to include the term.

Fans were hurt and let down after Lizzo used the same language. She did the right thing and re- recorded it. It's hard to believe that wasn't noticed by Bey's team.

Words matter because they reinforce the negative attitudes disabled people face every day and affect every aspect of disabled people's lives. We would urge Bey to remove this offensive lyric because she has been a champion of equality.

Sense said it was disappointing to see another artist use the word after Lizzo.

"Hoping that Lizzo's example is followed by Bey and changes the track," the organization stated. We need more education to make people aware of disabilities.
