The standard version worked well for all the sports I tried. My nightmare is that I will surface to find that I have been abandoned, like the couple in Open Water, by using the compass. The time and length of my lap pool swims were tracked by it. I might be a slow swimmer but I am efficient.

The Instinct 2S accurately recorded when and where I deviated from the trail to check out better views, and the running maps pinpointed when and where I slowed down on the big hills. The measurement of the body battery was accurate. The amount of sleep you get and your stress levels are taken into account to calculate how prepared you are for the day. It is nice to check my watch and know that today is a bad day to run.

There is more to that. There are many advanced training features in the Instinct 2S. I don't know if I did the suggested workouts. They made sense to me in terms of length. I ran in high temperatures this summer so I could check my heat acclimation.

The only change I would make is how your weight is reported. I like to be in better shape when I have more muscles. A lower body mass index doesn't always correlate with being in better shape, but this summer, my fitness age was lowered as I lost weight. You can't record it.

You pay a lot for a watch, but you also get a lot, and that confuses you. It can be difficult to find and manage all your options unless you know how to use the five-button system. I still search for garmin how to find ambient temperature and garmin how to look at health snapshot.

The Series 7 is the hardest watch yet from Apple, and the software developments for it are very interesting. Until Apple's battery life improves, the Instinct series of watches is the best value for money. I can't take off the tracker.
