On Sunday, Sen. Joe Manchin dodged a question about whether he wanted the Democrats to retain control of the House and Senate.

Speaking to NBC's Chuck Todd on "Meet the Press," the West Virginia lawmaker said he thinks people are tired of politics. I definitely do.

"I think they're sick and tired of Democrats and Republicans fighting and feuding and holding pieces of legislation hostage because they didn't get what they wanted," Manchin said.

Manchin was asked if he wanted the Democrats to win the election.

The Democrats have good candidates running. The senator said they were good people. I have a good relationship with my Republican colleagues. I can work on both sides very quickly.

Do you not care about the outcome of the election? Manchin was asked byTodd.

Whatever the voters decide. I don't know what will happen in California or Texas. Manchin said he couldn't.

He said that he does his best to work with the state representatives.

I don't play politics like that. Manchin did not like it that way. That isn't who I am.

Despite the Democrats having control of the Senate, Manchin has been one of the biggest obstacles to pass legislation. The senator killed the legislation.

In April, Manchin addressed claims that he might switch parties to the GOP, saying he's never considered the idea.

Manchin doesn't want to support Biden in the future.

Manchin changed his mind last week and said he would support the Inflation Reduction Act, which would allocate $370 billion for climate and energy programs and commit the US to a 40% emissions reduction by the year 2030.
