The New York Yankees don't seem to be interested in acquiring Juan Soto before the trade deadline.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Bronx Bombers checked in with the Washington Nationals on Sunday, but there wasn't much traction on the talks about Soto. Washington doesn't see the star others do, he sees the Yankees prospect as a very good major- leaguer.

The Padres are thought to be the favorite according to some executives.

The Yankees and Judge have yet to come to an agreement on a new contract.

Washington doesn't seem to believe in the ceiling of New York's top prospect.

The centerpiece of a trade at some point this season could be Volpe, who is slashing.253/.350/.473 with 15 home runs, 49 RBI and 37 stolen bases in Double-A.
