'Star Trek' Star Nichelle Nichols Dead at 89

According to her family, she passed away.

Kyle Johnson wrote on the website dedicated to the life and career of his mother that a great light no longer shines for them.

He says that his mother died last night. For us and future generations to enjoy, learn from, and draw inspiration from, her light will remain. Her life was well lived and she was a model for everyone.
