Black levels are the name of the game in TV land. Companies have begun to give us a more realistic view of our favorite images by using new back lighting technologies like organic LEDs.
For a long time, high-end TVs like the new QN90B have been able to see both light and dark. If you want to overcome a sunny California afternoon in a modern glass living room, you'll need a bright model.
If I were shopping for a new high-end screen, I would look at this model in particular. The thin, pedestal-mounted TV has excellent, miniLED–driven contrast, but at brightness levels that may hurt your eyes in a dark room. There is no better way to view inside during the summer.
The class is all class.
The QN90B is not too thin to be easy to hold by two people. I am ashamed to admit that I ruined my first review unit when I put it on my coffee table. It had to happen at some point. After a few weeks, a new unit, and a bruised ego, I repeated the process.
You will be impressed by the QN90B's looks if you get it set up. It looks like the TV is floating behind my soundbar, with the screen just high enough to peek over the top. It's a design that's rare in modern screens, many of which get blocked at the bottom.
setup was almost instantaneous because of my phone I signed in to my account on my phone and told the TV what I wanted to watch and download. All of the apps you will need are here, even if you have to sign in to individual ones. It has a number of apps.
One criticism of the interface is that it can be hard to navigate for new users. You get used to the weird assortment of menus below the single app bar, but it's easy to get lost. I can't figure out how to put the Paramount+ and Plex apps on the home screen. I think there is a way, but I haven't been motivated to find it.
I would encourage the designers of the interface to take a closer look at what people do with it. I don't need a lot of suggestions to watch the actual apps. I won't complain about it. There is a solar cell on the back of theremote. I don't have to look forAAA batteries anymore. It's a good thing!
It looks good.
You will be impressed with how it looks on the QN90B once you find something to watch. The TV uses quantum dot technology for bright colors. Soccer balls and other fast moving objects can't have weird shading because of the matrix behind the screen.
