According to the CBS News Battleground Tracker model, the Republicans are on track to win a majority in the House of Representatives.

According to CBS, the Battleground Tracker takes a district-by- district approach to analyzing races and measuring public opinion since control of Congress is won across hundreds of individual elections.

It seems as though high inflation and the normal rhythm of election cycles make it hard for Democrats to overcome the handicaps of the Supreme Court decision.

CBS News reported on July 31, 2020.

The GOP needs to gain 7 seats in order to get a majority. The Democrats can only afford to lose two seats.

Republicans are projected to win between 218 and 242 seats according to the model. Republicans would emerge from the elections with control of the House.

The range tracks with the number of seats Democrats won in the election and falls short of the number of seats Republicans won in the election.
