According to Buck Showalter, Jacob deGrom will make his major league debut Tuesday against the Washington Nationals.
DeGrom, who has been on the disabled list with a stress reaction in his right scapula, threw 67 pitches in a rehab start for Triple-A Syracuse.
He hasn't pitched for the Mets since July 7, 2021, missing the second half of last season with right forearm tightness and a sprained elbow, then going down late in spring training this year with a shoulder injury.
DeGrom has made four minor league rehabilitation starts totaling 1223 hours. In his first outing, he has allowed five runs and seven hits with 21 strikeouts and four walks and hit 100 mph on the radar gun.
deGrom, a two-time National League Cy Young Award winner, will pitch on full rest in a potentially pivotal five-game series against Atlanta in August. The Mets lead the Braves by three games in the division.
