Juan Soto Trade Rumors: Padres' C.J. Abrams, Top Prospects Available in Talks

As the Washington Nationals continue to decide if they are going to trade Juan Soto, we now know what the San Diego Padres will be willing to trade for the two-time All-Star.

According to Jon Morosi, the Padres are willing to talk to C.J. Abrams, Adrian Morejn and Robert Hassell III.

Ahead of the trade deadline, the Nationals still have a chance to retain Soto.

Washington is going to make another contract offer to Soto. The young man will be traded before the deadline if he doesn't accept.

The Nationals haven't accepted San Diego's trade proposal because they are looking for an additional important prospect in the offer, as well as the four currently being talked about.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic and Fox Sports, the Padres and the Cards are the front-runners to acquire the catcher.

According to Rosenthal, there are people in MLB who think A.J. Preller will do everything in his power to get the catcher.

In recent years, Preller has made a number of moves to help San Diego return to prominence. He gave a 10-year $300 million contract to a free agent.

In December 2020, the Padres traded for Yu Darvish.

MLB.com ranked San Diego's farm system as the 17th best in MLB coming into the season.

The team's top prospect wasAbrams at the beginning of the year. He has 134 plate appearances in the big leagues, but his first experience at the highest level of baseball has been a struggle. The 21-year-old has a slash line of.231/.280/.322.

If he is going to headline a deal, these initial struggles may be cause for concern.

Morejn underwent Tommy John surgery in the spring of 2021. Since making his debut in June of 1992, the young man has a 3.00 earned run average with eight strikeouts in nine appearances.

According to MLB.com, Hassell is a 21-year-old outfielder. In 73 games with the High-A Ft., the No. 8 pick in the 2020 draft is hitting.303/.384/.463 with nine homers and 52 runs scored. The man is Wayne Tin Caps.

The Padres are in a good position to make the playoffs. The Dodgers had a 12 game lead in the National League West.

The San Diego Padres have a 2-game lead over the Philadelphia and the St. Louis teams for the second wild card in the NL.

The Padres have a good chance of getting one of the three wild card spots. The Dodgers, Mets, and Braves are the best teams in the NL.

The outfielder is hitting.243/.399/.478 with 20 homers and 45 runs scored in 98 games this season.
