The White House said that President Joe Biden tested positive for Covid-19 late Saturday morning, forcing him back into isolation.
Following Biden's bout with a mild case of Covid, the White House's Dr. Kevin O'Connor said there was a case of "rebound positivity."
The president took a Paxlovid regimen after he tested positive and recovered quickly.
Biden will not restart treatment and will continue to feel well, according to O'Connor.
O'Connor said that the president increased his testing to protect people around him.
Biden spent five full days in isolation before he gave a speech extolling the virtues of Paxlovid and vaccines that he said prevented him from getting "severely ill" like Trump. The president hasn't traveled from the White House, but he did hold an event there Thursday, meeting with several CEOs and his top economic advisers. Biden had a few symptoms during his initial isolation, which appeared to peak shortly after his positive test. The White House said he tested negative on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
