  • Samsung has announced a new feature that will protect your data while your phone is being repaired.
  • The repair mode feature will first be available on the Samsung Galaxy S21 series in South Korea.
  • In the future, Samsung intends to expand the feature to other Galaxy models.

It's a nightmare to leave your broken phone in the hands of a repairman, but that's not the case with the new solution from SAMSUNG.

There is a new repair mode feature for the GALAXY devices. The feature is coming to the S21 series first in South Korea before it makes its way to the best phones in the world.

  • Save up to $200 on Samsung's upcoming Galaxy devices

There is a new feature that protects against invasion of privacy when you send in your phone for repair. In 2020, game designer Jane McGonigal gave over her phone for repairs. Someone gained access to her phone, photos, backups, and email accounts.

The aim is to keep this from happening to the owners of the phone. It stops your device from being used before you send it in for repairs.

In repair mode, technicians can't access many apps. Basic apps that help in the phone repair process are what they can access.

The feature can be turned on by going to the battery and device care section in the settings app. Your device will go into repair mode after a restart. You can exit Repair Mode when the repair is done.

It's not known if the repair mode will be available in other regions. You will soon be able to do your own repairs when iFixit starts shipping genuine repair parts to users this summer.

It's a bit surprising why it took so long for this type of feature to be launched, but it's something that addresses a long-standing hassle. It is a good change.
