Evansville school board member arrested early Saturday morning

Many details about Amy Word's arrest are still unknown.

Word's charge is listed on the jail's website. At 6:34 a.m., she was taken to the jail.

The press left a message with the police department to find out more about the arrest The probable cause arrest affidavits in Word's arrest were not yet available.

The Indiana Secretary of State's office says Word has owned the bar since 2009. Amy's on Franklin is a higher end bar and restaurant.

Police dispatched detectives to the bar twice on Saturday.

Word was elected to the school board in 2020 and won one of the two seats. She was included on a list of potential candidates.

"My reason for seeking public office was to always serve where I was most needed and to use my talents where I could be of best use for the people of the community." The primary focus will always be the future positions.
