Elon Musk is planning his own private airport in Texas, report says

Multiple sources told Austonia that Musk is building a private airport.

Plans for an airport east of Austin, near Bastrop, have been confirmed according to individuals cited by the local publication.

In December of last year, Musk moved his company's headquarters from Silicon Valley to Texas. These operations could be developed using the airport.

Musk and his companies own thousands of acres of land in central Texas, including 2,100 acres for Giga Texas, as well as other land in recent years.

Austin Executive Airport spans 585 acres and is not clear what the scope of the airport would be.

The site was a 10 minute drive from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport according to Musk.

As the company ramps up production at his gigafactory in Texas, Musk is spending more time in the state.

According to a report last month, Musk was planning to upgrade to the G700, which has a base price of $78 million.

It takes approval from the FAA to build a private airport.

Bastrop council and its economic development organization told Insider they were unaware of any plans.

A representative for Musk was not available for comment.
