The parent company of Alex Jones' far-right conspiracy theory website has filed for Chapter 11 protection.
A trial in Texas is underway to determine how much to award the families of two Sandy Hook victims who sued Jones for defamation and won a default judgment against him.
Mark Bankston, the lawyer for the two families, asked the jury to award $150 million in damages for each person who believes false information about the Sandy Hook shooting.
Bankston did not reply to the request for comment.
Jones baselessly accused the people involved in the shooting of being actors after the incident. The massacre at an elementary school in Connecticut was the worst in US history.
In Texas and Connecticut, the founder of Infowars was found guilty of defamation.
The Sandy Hook parents' lawyer previously told Insider that following the defamation cases, three other companies tied to Jones declared Chapter 11 reorganization.
He and Free Speech Systems were the only ones who would be sued by the companies.
