There is room for every iteration of the classic superhero we know and love in the multiverse. There are many possibilities for wacky alternate realities.

All of our most popular heroes will never be able to use their super power because it is eating pussy. At least that's what DC told Halpern, the co- creator of the show.

In an interview with Variety, Halpern said that they had to censor a scene in the third season in which Batman went down on Catwoman because DC insisted that "heroes don't do that." Batman's viability as a consumer product was more important to DC than Halpern thought. The superhero makes a lot of money in the form of kid friendly toys. Halpern said that it was hard to sell a toy if Batman was also going down on someone.

When the interview first came out last summer, the news of Batman being a lover exploded across the internet. We were able to see the censorship in action for ourselves after the first three episodes of the third season.

DC's ban on oral sex left other people out in the cold. Due to the weird prudishness that comic books impose on their superhero's sexuality, we have lost a lot more than just one joke from an animated series.

The joke that came after Poison Ivy ended her call to Catwoman about how much better she could do than the guy she's currently seeing was dumb. When Catwoman agreed, she put the phone down and saw Batman on his hands and knees, hunched over her lap.

Is it possible for me to continue? The obviously dissatisfied Catwoman is asked by Batman if he's satisfied. She said it was not worth it.

The original implications of the scene are hard to miss, but the censors neutered what should have been a great opener. Superb writers recover quickly. The entire superhero genre is being held back by the rules of the DCEU and the MCU.

Critics have called out the sexlessness of the movie. Steven Soderbergh, Pedro Almodvar, and Paul Verhoeven all pointed to it as their main gripe with the comic book takeover of the entertainment industry.

The existence of sexual desire makes for some pretty dehumanizing stories.

The hottest people alive are all virgins who hang out in skin-tight suits together without ever really getting horny for each other.

One of the most alienating parts of these fictional universes is where the hottest people alive are all virgins who hang out in skin-tight suits together without ever getting horny for each other. Today's strict, hypersexualized body ideals still require superheros to adhere to, even though they can't express desire or experience pleasure. The superhero movie star is sold to audiences as a sex symbol who can only ever be the object rather than a subject of voyeuristic pleasure.

Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy share a bed in Season 3 of the HBO Max animated series

DC doesn't care about the sexuality of its heroes. Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn will be allowed to eat at each other's carpets during the third season of the show. Is pleasuring your partner amoral? The near-sociopathic acts of mass violence Batman commits later on in the season does not seem to threaten his moral virtue. We won't get into specifics, but let's just say that they include, but are not limited to terrorizing a child and almost sacrificing the entire city to get what they want.

DC's insistence that superhero don't schtup is a financial rather than a moral statement. It's not a good thing. If you catch our drift, there's a lot of money to be made by launching an adult line of superhero-themed toys instead of leaning into it.

Catwoman will have to care for her own cat until then. She is able to keep her sexy Dark Knight. Harley and Ivy are going on a honeymoon and we are happy to be a part of it.

The third season of Harley Quinn will begin on July 28. There will be new episodes on Thursdays through September 15.
