Alabama received a huge boost to its recruiting class Friday when Richard Young committed to the school.
Young is one of the top recruits in the class and is rated as a 5-star prospect by Rivals, as well as the 24th overall player and the second running back in the class.
Some of the top programs in college football were interested in the 5'11", 200 pound Young.
Young received scholarship offers from the likes of Alabama, Florida, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Texas and USC.
Young has been productive since he entered the high school ranks.
Young had a yards-per-carry average of 7.7 in 2019. He ran for 962 yards and scored eight times on 100 totes in 2020.
While Young has plenty of developing left to do, Andrew Ivins expects him to eventually be a second- or third-round pick in the NFL draft and compared him to Arizona State's Kalen Ballage.

The Alabama offense will likely continue to be one of the best in the nation because of the new electric weapon being used by head coach Nick Saban.
Over the past several years, Alabama has produced a number of big-time running backs, including Najee Harris, Damien Harris, Josh Jacobs, and Mark Ingram.
Young now has the chance to be a high NFL draft pick and produce at that level as well.
