The New York Islanders didn't win the NHL draft lottery, so they've turned their attention to the Mega Millions draw.
Their fans would be able to if they win the lottery.
Jackpocket, a third-party app that allows users to order state lottery tickets, will be used by the Islanders to purchase Mega Millions tickets. The net winnings will be shared by the Islanders Children's Foundation and holders of full-season tickets or suites.
The full amount of the winnings will be donated to the Islanders Children's Foundation.
According to Mega Millions.com, there's a 1 in 30 million chance that you'll win the grand prize.
"As we prepare for our 50th anniversary season, we want to show our appreciation for our Islanders Season Ticket Members and staff and give them a chance to participate in this massive Mega Millions drawing," said Islanders co-owner Jon Ledecky. The Islanders were purchased for $485 million.
Regardless of what happens in the historic drawing, important funds have been generated for education in the state, which supports our fan base and their families.
One way to foster togetherness is by using that method.
