Young starting quarterbacks around the league are getting valuable reps as the NFL training camps get closer.
After the offense was almost shut out completely in a red zone drill at the end of Thursday's practice, Mac Jones was expected to raise his level of performance.
Jones showed that his relationship with Jonnu Smith is better now than it was a year ago. On one play, Jones lofted a ball to Smith in the back of the end zone, with Dugger in coverage, and Smith leaped high to catch the ball for a touchdown. Smith spiked after catching another touchdown from Jones.
Jones threw his first pick up of camp right into the chest of Mills.
After a good showing in the opening practice, the offense had a rough outing in Philadelphia. Young receiver made their mark in Tennessee and Washington.
You need to know what to expect from the camps.
Dyami Brown needs to be a bigger threat for Washington. He was a third-round pick. He made a great catch on Friday. The quarterback threw the ball to Brown. With Brown pinned to his side, Cornerer Kendall Fuller was in a perfect position to intercept the ball. Brown leaped over the veteran to grab the ball as they fell to the ground.
The offense struggled after a strong showing in the first practice.
The center said it didn't look good.
One of the defensive highlights was the intercept of a floating Hurts pass intended for Goedert.
The second day of camp is here. Goedert said they would get it right.
Another great day of work was turned in by the TennesseeTitans' rookies. He won reps in one-on-one by using his size. He caught a couple of passes from Ryan Tannehill in the middle of the practice field.
It would have been easy to say "Same old Sammy Watkins" when he started camp on the non- football injury list. The veteran receiver who the Packers signed in the off-season was relieved to be able to practice on the third day of camp. He said he felt something in one of his legs.
Watkins said that the next day he went out and ran routes and felt great. It wasn't really anything. On the day the Packers conducted only a short, half-speed practice, he returned to practice. Watkins was able to catch a few passes from Rodgers as he was easing back.
Dunlap wasn't at practice. Dunlap will not return to camp until the middle of next week, as he needs a few days to get things in order at home.
Cole Strange, the team's first-round pick, ended practice with an exclamation point as he was summoned to catch punts. The 6-foot-5, 295-pound Strange hauled in one punt, and then when Mitchell missed his attempt, Strange caught another with a football in his grasp. That set off a celebration by the offense, which did not win anything other than bragging rights.
Alexander will be brought along slowly as he gets ready to play football. The Jets are going to have him work on his own for a couple of days before he gets on the practice field. He didn't have an off-season program because he wasn't signed at the end of last season. He will be a backup in the 'Sam' and 'Will' positions.
He was coached by Robert Saleh in San Francisco. "He just has to do what he always does, which is to bring a lot of juice, a lot of energy."
At the end of practice, Matt Rhule gave the quarterbacks a chance to see what they could do with 1:45 left on the clock, so they could make a decision. The touchdown drive was created by pass interference on a deep pass and a circus catch in the end zone by Shi Smith after the ball was tipped.
The field goal was made as time expired. The Carolinas ranked in the bottom half of the league in red zone scoring. He was 0-for-4 on his first series. He went 1 for 4. He completed his first deep pass of practice with a 40-plus yard strike.
Hyde was hurt trying to intercept a Josh Allen pass. He came to the ground after dropping the ball. After a few seconds, Jordan Poyer motioned to the team's athletic trainers, who came over to attend to Hyde. The music was turned off while multiple Bills players took a knee.
He was helped off the field and taken to the locker room in the passenger seat of a cart. Hyde has a hip injury that is being evaluated. He and Poyer are arguably the best safety duo in the NFL, so any time missed would be a big loss for the Bills. Hyde didn't practice the rest of the time.
Chase Young is going to miss the season opener.
Chase Young will be out at least the season opener because of a knee injury. According to a team source, Young would come back in September.
J.J. Watt doesn't like the Guardian Cap.
Watt was not a fan of wearing the Guardian Cap during training camp and shared his thoughts on Friday.
Watt jokingly said that he felt like a bobblehead. You are going to fall over. I will probably be fined for this. It's great. There is 15 grand left.
During training camp, all offensive linemen, defensive linemen, tight ends and linebackers must wear the Guardian Cap.
There is more.
