"I think Biden is a man of decency, of good principle, of compassion, of empathy and of strength, but I'm concerned about his age," saidPhillips on the WCCO program.

A New York Times/ Siena College poll earlier this month found that nearly two out of three Democrats don't want Biden to run for reelection.

Many Democrats in Congress are hoping for another candidate, despite the fact that the highest-ranking Democrat at the federal level supports Biden stepping down after one term.

The country would be well-served by a new generation of Democrats.

Key Background

Biden has said many times that he will run for reelection in 2024, but that hasn't stopped Democrats from wanting another candidate. If reelected, Biden will be the oldest person to ever serve as president, at the age of 81. The president is dealing with historically low approval ratings as voters express frustration with supply chain disruptions and inflation. Biden's approval rating is lower than Trump's at the same time in his presidency.

In an interview with NewsNation, Sen. Joe Manchin said he wouldn't back Biden if he were the Democratic nominee. He said that they would just have to wait and see. Cori Bush wouldn't say if she would support Biden running again, but she did say that she wouldn't answer that question.

Surprising Fact

The top three Democrats in the House are all under the age of 30. Pelosi and Clyburn are both in their 80's.

A majority of Democrats don't want Biden to be their presidential candidate.

Manchin won't endorse Biden in the presidential election.

Biden says he's going to run for re-election in four years.
