Washington Commanders defensive end Chase Young isn't expected to be ready for the start of the season while he continues to recover from a tornACL.

The edge-rusher is going to miss a little bit of time, according to Ron Rivera.

Young started training on the list. Young could begin the season on injured reserve according to John Keim.

He tore his knee in the 10th week of the season against the Bucs. He had 26 tackles and four quarterback hits in nine games before he was hurt.

Losing Young was a big blow to the Washington defense as he was expected to take the next step in his career.

In 15 games, he racked up 44 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, 12 quarterback hits, and 7.5 sacks.

The Commanders will need Montez Sweat, Daron Payne, and Jonathan Allen to carry the defense while James Smith-Williams takes over Young's position.
