High season – December to February – is the best time for boat parties, rooftop bars and balmy nights

It's warm and humid in the summer. During the Christmas and New Year period, there is a lot of buzz in the city. The yacht race leaves the harbor on Boxing day. The fireworks displays over the water on New Year's Eve are some of the best in the world. There will be a Test on New Year's Day and T20 matches at the Cricket Ground in January. This is a good place to start if you haven't been to cricket before. If sports make you sleepy, you might want to attend a performance at the festival.

Major tourist attractions are busy with families during the high season in Australia. Before you go, make a list of must-see sights and activities. Beaches can get crowded in the high season. If you want to avoid car parking, use the public transportation system in the city.

The National Rugby League Grand Final is one of the sporting events that take place in the autumn. Sculpture by the Sea is a home grown sculpture garden that becomes a giant outdoor sculpture garden.

Low season – June to August – is the best time for indoors entertainment and dining out

You can find museums and art galleries that are less crowded when the weather is cool. If you missed out on the summer season, you are more likely to get a restaurant booking in the winter.

Stay three nights and pay for two deals are available. The Blue Mountains of Australia embrace winter hygge vibes. Wealthy Sydneysiders either jet off to the Snowy Mountains or New Zealand to chase the slopes in winter, or to escape the cold by taking a winter break somewhere sunnier.

The beaches are less crowded because the children are back at school. The influx of people for the Carnival begins in the middle of February. The colors of Chinese New Year parades can't be missed because of the strong Chinese population in the city.

Everyone in Sydney loves to watch the gay and lesbian parade, whether they're part of the community or not. Even though temperatures are still warm, you should pack an umbrella or a raincoat.

Bring a warm coat but gloves, scarves and hats are not required.

August is good for cold-water swimmers

August is warm but dry, perfect for a run to the beach, but only the most hardy are tempted to get in for some cold water swimming.

September's sunnier days bring the locals outside

The weather is warm and sunny during the spring season. Daily highs in September are usually above 20C. The peak pre- summer fitness time is in the city. The city will be filled with groups running, cycling and parkour.

October has pleasant spring weather

School students get the first week off after Labour Day, while workers get to enjoy the long weekend. Major sites are likely to be busy during school holidays.

November is often Sydney's sunniest month
