Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola
Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola are expected to be the two managers battling at the top of the Premier League again

It was a one point difference between the two teams in the title race last season.

There have been a lot of arrivals and departures this summer and another title fight is expected.

The Community Shield will take place at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, and before that, they take a look at how they are shaping up.

The new arrivals

Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez

The highest goal scorer in the league last season was Chelsea with 76, but the next highest scorer was City with 99.

Both sides spent a lot of money on their forwards.

Having a quality out-and-out forward has been a point of discussion for City and they ended that discussion by signing Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian is a prolific player for his club and country. Haaland scored 20 goals in 21 games for Norway and 86 goals in 89 games for the German team.

The big things are expected of the Argentine. The 22-year-old joined from River Plate in January but stayed at the club on loan and has only recently linked up with City. He has been mentioned as a possible successor to the Argentine.

KalvinPhillips, 26, an England international, was signed by the manager for £45 million.

The most expensive player in the club's history was Darwin Nunez, who joined from Benfica for a club record £85 million.

After moving to Europe from South America, he scored 34 goals in 41 matches for the Portuguese side.

A young Portuguese forward and a Scottish right-back have joined the Reds.

The departures

Sadio Mane and Raheem Sterling

After six trophy-laden seasons at Anfield, Sadio Mane left for pastures new.

Despite scoring 23 goals in all competition last season and being offered a new contract by the club, the Senegalese forward decided to leave and join German giants.

Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino left.

There was a headline departure.

The £50m deal for the England forward left City with a record of 131 goals in 343 games, with 13 goals in the premier league.

Gabriel Jesus, one of City's former players, will be going against them in the upcoming season.

The Brazil forward has never been a prolific scorer at City, but he did provide eight league assists last season, the most of any player at the club.

How has pre-season gone?

It's always a mistake to read too much into pre-season results with the World Cup coming up. Fans will look to see how they got on with the new players.

Manchester City traveled to the US for a couple of games, while the other went on a tour of Asia.

In the first game of their pre-season, the side was thrashed by Manchester United in Thailand, with Nunez missing an open goal.

The Reds beat Crystal Palace in Singapore and Jordan Henderson and Mohamed Salah scored.

The Reds lost to Red Bull Salzburg in the first game of the day.

City played two games in the US.

They beat the former 2-1 with De Bruyne scoring twice, before Haaland scored his first goal for the club against the Germans.
