A three-year contract extension has been agreed to by the Seattle Seahawks and their star wide receiver, according to a report.
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefterSeahawks’ WR DK Metcalf is signing a three-year, $72 million extension that includes $58.2 million guaranteed, per source. Deal includes $30 million signing bonus, the highest ever for a WR. Metcalf will be a free agent again at 27 years old.
Pete Carroll told reporters in March that the team was trying to extend his contract before the start of the next season.
"It's really important to us," he said. We adore him." He could be one of the great draft picks of all time. We're going to do everything we can to make it happen.
Following Seattle's trade of quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos, there was a rumor that Metcalf would want out. The veteran wideout supports Drew Lock, who the franchise acquired in the Wilson deal, so it's clear he believes in the franchise's vision.
He was selected in the second round of the draft, but he has been a mainstay in the lineup. He caught 58 passes for 900 yards and seven touchdown in his first year.
He caught 75 passes and scored 12 times.
The No.1 receiver spot won't be a problem with Metcalf locked up.
